Reject Extremes

The extremes hyperfocus on a handful of complex, incendiary issues, policies, candidates. Rather than promote civil discourse, extremists quickly devolve into name calling, anger, vitriol, distraction. When their audience falls for it, it is held up as evidence there is no common ground left to work toward.

Who wins when as a result the majority end up forming generalized, cynical, uninformed views of candidates, issues, our very ability (or inability) to coexist, innovate, and grow? Adversary countries, corrupt political parties, single interest lobbyists,... all the above? One thing is certain. It definitely isn't the 99.4% of us average Americans.

Diversity of experience, beliefs, backgrounds is our strength.

"People talk about the middle of the road as though it were unacceptable. Actually, all human problems, excepting morals, come into the gray areas. Things are not all black and white. There have to be compromises. The middle of the road is all of the usable surface. The extremes, right and left, are in the gutters." [Dwight D. Eisenhower]
